Ceramics 2 & 3

Ceramics 2 is a focus on wheel throwing and advanced handbuilding.

Below you can see examples of student work and below these images are examples of teacher resources!

Throwing (Cylinders & Mugs)

Students start on the wheel by perfecting a cylinder and then they move onto a 5 inch shaped mug. They use different surface applications, for example the Majolica and cone 10 reduction glaze as seen below

Thrown (Bowls & Plates)

Here students were asked to throw 3 bowls and one plate on the kick wheel

Handbuilding (Slab Boxes)

Students are asked yo use advanced handbuilding techniques to construct a geometric or organic themed box.

Press Molds

Here students used different press molds to create functionware

Handbuilding (Sculptural Coil Pots)

Students in this project are building upon their prior knowledge and using the coiling technique. However, now they must learn to shape and control the form of their vessel.
